WHAT IS GNOSIS ?
For
time immorial man has asked the questions . what exactly am I ? why am I here ?
where is here ? what is my purpose, how must I function ? indeed, just what
exactly is the meaning of life ? and, my place in it ?
Gnosis
is a system that has come down to us through the pages of antiquity. It has
been passed down from generation to generation. It is a most natural system
that can and should be tested during the rigours of day to day life that we all
engage in .It is both practicle and mysticle. It teaches man in short to know
himself , as the ancients so profoundly urged. It is both simple and profound,
as too we find nature to be.
Gnosis
will appeal to the modern man who finds himself at odds with what he sees around
him and indeed what he feels within. Society as a whole being more
materialistik than spiritual in it’s focus, will prompt the notion that there
must be more to life than just what lies before our eyes. Human behaviour will
also draw attention to itself and it's many defects, as they manifest outwardly
in such behaviour as greed, lust, envy, hatred, fear, ignorance, anger,
laziness, etc. causing many negative situations to manifest in the world. Man
does indeed make his own bed that he must lie in.
Gnosis
tells us that we can change, that we can improve, that we can overcome these
situations . To put things bluntly,
that we can
evolve! by this we of course mean an evolution of
the internal world and faculitys as well as the outer material one. This would
be the balancing factor needed in todays modern world.
The
good thing about gnosis is that it promotes a direct link with the divinity
within through the use of gnostik psychology which awakens the conciousness and
opens up the human potential . This is done through the study of the four
pillars of ART,SCIENCE,PHILOSOPHY, MYSTICISM. Knowledge of the mysteries will
ensue, making Gnosis beyond politics and religion, as we know them today.
A
fundamental goal of gnostik philosophy is to teach us to live, not merely to
exist. Gnosis is a practikle study, whose principle theme is mans knowledge of
himself, his physicle, psychologicle and spiritual possibilities, his
relationship with himself, with the universe and with divinity.
The
study of gnosis serves to enrich ones life and provides the means of liberation
from the pain and suffering which afflicts todays humanity. Anthropological
investigation and the revivification of the occult wisdom of ancient
civilisations being a part of this process.
“
this is not a matter of accepting or rejecting. There is something which must
be experienced, lived and comprehended. Comprehension is something immediate
and direct, something to live intensely, something to experience profoundly. “
“ it
is necessary to inquire, investigate and analyse……. There are many enigmas on
the face of the earth which are mysteries to official science. We need to
recognise the intelligent principles of nature and the cosmos. The order which
exists in the construction of the molecule and the atom clearly demonstrates to
us these intelligent principles. “
Gnosis
is eternal and unchanging. The teachings of gnosis always re-emerge in a form
and language appropriate to humanitys conciousness.
Thus
the gnosis of today utilises all systems available to humanity , making the
work of gaining superior knowledge, the principle theme of which is mans
knowledge of himself- his physicle, psychologicle and spiritual possibilities
and his relationship with himself, with the universe and with divinity.
Accessable to all regardless of their station in life.
The
teachings of gnosis always re-emerge in a form and language appropriate to
humanity’s conciousness.
The
objective of gnosis is to teach the process of self-relisation, just as the “
western mystery traditions “ .
In
saying that though gnosis is eternal and unchanging.
Some
themes studied are:
The regeneration of the
human being.
Fundamentals of
meditation.
Hermetik astrology.
Tibetan psychology.
Awakening conciousness.
Superior and inferior
laws of nature.
The perfect matrimony.
etc; etc; etc.
so
now you have an idea of the kind of thing we mean when we refer to something as
"gnostikly" ........
